Any Mauser guys have a serviceable firing pin for a Peruvian M98? Slightly shorter than a standard 98.
Thanks

I need one too! I believe one can be made bu shortening a standard M98 pin: it is exactly one groove shorter, IIRC....

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

these will work:

The tail end of the pin is a tad shorter than the original but they will work. It will not come all the way to the end of the cocking piece.

Kendog , did you find one ? I've got dozens of the 1903 Turk intermediate action , I think they are the same . It's NOT the std 1938 Turk .
It uses the long heavy cocking piece and was originally made in 7.65 .
I'll need to dig ( really ) a path to the shop and climb ( up ) over the piles of Mauser stuff .

I once owned a Husqvarna M98 and it had a very long firing pin that almost penetrated the primers. The indentation was so deep that I was not happy developing loads with more powder..

I took the pin out and removed about 1 mm on a Gerber diamond knife sharpener. It took a while but problem solved.

Did not find one, so I re-repaired the existing one. Other(s) before had hard soldered a piece of mystery stock .011" under FP hole size. MAY have led to early failure, very flimsy in .075 hole.
Fit and soldered a .120" piece of oil hardened spring stock, turned/profiled/polished to size (.074 Nom). Set protrusion and sent it out the door.
