I'm sure I didn't invent this but I never saw it before either. Clamp also works to push stuck bullets out of revolver barrels (with brass rod).

We'll just give you credit for it anyway. Inventions look good on your resume.

Where does one find inner tubes these days? Have not seen one in many years and my old sears tumbler seal is looking poorly.

I can't imagine finding a real rubber inner tube these days, hell, I had trouble back when i was making rubber guns. Get you some surgical tubing.

i ride bicycles and motorcycles - i have used tubes all the time -- and used to have tractor inner tubes for tubing in the river

btw, they do make natural rubber bicycle tubes - they are considered to ride smoother than the new stuff

I just threw 15 inner tubes in the trash; WW2 jeeps use 600x16 NDTs, combat wheels, and inner tubes.

Seat of the pants. BIG ass router bit. I had to plunge cut out the lexan base for it. Parallel wood clamp make a nice flat surface.

Pete Grisel taught us to place the stock & tip between centers in the lathe. Did not use epoxy just water proof wood glue. Works just fine.

We used a bar (pipe) clamp, as shown in post #1, when I was in GS school in '93. I still use a (Pony) bar clamp.

I got one like Richj's clamps on pipe and wrap at the grip with surgical tubing. Works on recoil pads as well..along with the screws..Hate to see things come apart on safari.

He had the butt setting against the jaws of the 3 jaw chuck, headstock locked, the forend with tip against a dead center in the tailstock. He then applied a sensible amount of pressure with the tailstock. Left it over night to set up.

Three of us took a one week stock making class with him in Oregon. It was several years ago. I drove up from Texas to Kansas, met a gunsmith buddy there and we drove together to Oregon. The third one was Steve Nelson.
