this is the one with the lateral push button floorplate release. exactly how does one get that latch out. am refinishing it and it needs to come apart. near as i can tell there are only 2 parts: the button and a wire spring which seems to be held in place by 2 stakes. i filed/cut the stakes out but the spring still doesn't move. anybody had to do this before?

thanks
roger

The spring of course forms 90 degrees. I have a small dental probe that I have formed a small wedge on the end that slips under the staked end, or, loose end of the wire, and allows me to pry the spring up and out of it's hole. Sometimes I have to use a real narrow needle nose plier to help coax it out but for the most part, it should come straight up and out.
