Can Ruger MK11 7mm rem mag be simply rechambered to 7mm stw ??
Is this conversion possible................and what does one make 7mm stw brass from ??
Anyone done this conversion ??

CraftsmanI did several of these on Remington 700's a few years back when the 7 STW was more popular. I like the conversion because no work is required to make it feed, just rechamber and you are ready to hunt. I have no experience with the conversion on a Ruger.
Actually the 7 STW is still a very good cartridge and usually very accurate.
Of course you will have more recoil, some of my customers would bring the rifle back in and request a muzzle brake intalled. Ka-ching, Ka-ching, Ka-ching. I love it.
PC,
I'm sure it can be done but will be more costly then a simple rechamber of a Rem700 SPS in 7mmRemMag. The SPS stands out as you get a 26" barrel and an action long enough to accept it. Another even cheaper thought ... with your existing Rem700 300RUM ... why not get a switch barrel set-up in 7mmRUM??? For the 7mmSTW ... brass is available or you can use 8mmRemMag brass which is also available.
Cheers...

Thomas JonesI would not recomend such a job.
I have a model 70 in the stw and it is built on the H&H length action. It is a great cartridge, and my rifle with loads it likes is astonishingly acurate.
Your ruger has a 24 inch tube (I think) and I do not think it would gain you much if you did the job.
The easiest bolt action would be the remington.
But it would be easy to rechamber a #1 from the 7 mag if you wanted too !

Thanks for all the suggestions folks, I quite like the Ruger actions..................am a bit of a closet CRF fan, but do own a couple of rem 700's
And yes a Ruger #1 stainless Laminate in 7mm stw would make a nice gun IMHO !!
