Dan, can you give us an update on the status of the short actions? I've e-mailed you but you guys must be really busy now that the time is getting short.
Just a short note to let us know how things are going would be appreciated.

Thanks

Don't understand what's meant by this "time is getting short" business. As far as I know there wasn't any definate date that these actions would be ready, only an estimate.

We've been told all along that this is a very tentative timeline. All would do themselves a favor and stop chomping at the bit. Anyone who has plans to take one of these hunting this season is being overly optimistic and should have a back-up ready.

Relax, it'll happen in it's time, not yours and beating at MRC's door won't make it happen any faster.

Get it right, then get it to me.

As someone who is helping to finance this undertaking, I feel that we have every right to enquire and every expectation to be informed.

As one who already has a stock, scope, base, rings, dies, brass, etc. waiting on a barreled action, I hope they understand if I'm a bit impatient.

I'm not sure about that. Technically I'd say we're (I have 3 ordered) supposed to be "silent partners" only sometimes we're not too silent.

I was told Ruger will start shipping in October. I'm getting impatient too.

The term "time is getting short" comes from Dan's last post on 7-18-2003 where he said: "We should start shipping the short actions within the next 3-4 weeks. When yours will ship will depend upon when you ordered. Those who ordered first will be the first to receive them. But rest assured we will try to get them out to everyone as quickly as we can."

I did not ask for my action to be delivered, I asked for an update on what the status of the action are.

I talked to them on Aug. 6th. about my left handed short action.
I'm having them barrel it, polish the inside of the actions ,lap the lugs, put a recessed crown on it, and apply a matte blued finish.
Then they're shipping it over to Acrabond for the stock.
I was givnen the time line by them of October 1st to have the barreled action over to ArcaBond.
So for what it's worth, that's what I know.

Just wondering if I missed J. Belks comments on the Walex rifle?

I tend to agree with Fjold and Chuck Nelson.

I don't think their comments are negative.

If a person is a charter purchaser, a few lines in the form of an update would be totally appropriate.

Well I have a question. The last post I have seen from the MRC people was a list of serial numbers. I asked for an update as to expected delivery dates and if enough left hand short and mini had been ordered to begain production and if not how close they where. No answer then and no response to this thread either. This after a period when you couldn't visit AR without wading through posts by the MRC people.

MRC where are you?

Seems like the best place to ask that question of Dan at Montana Rifle is here mtrifle@montanarifleman.com

He has been prompt in answering me about my delivery date on the PH series!

Rusty yes I could do that, could also call them and may do so. However I happened to already be at this thread, remember MRC chose to bring their whole development operation to the internet. They have also frequently posted unsolicited updates on these forums, in my opinion that makes this the best place to post questions we know are of general interest.

If you will notice in my first post, I already e-mailed them (the week before I posted this) and because they didn't answer me, I posted it here.

Howard, Fjold,

Please guys, I never said you should not ask a question here. It just seems that the best way to ask is thru direct email or heaven forbid, pick up the phone. I have emailed Dan and spoken to him or his staff on several occasions. They have always treated me well.

Please persue the matter in the way that brings you results or satisfaction.

My actions won't be ready til next summer at best. I knew this was not a quick turnaround going in.

All:

There's some really ground-shaking stuff occurring at MRC recently. Very good for all of us...but these new developments have soaked up their bandwidth. Sorry to be cryptic, but its not possible to reveal more at this point.

Let's just say Short Actions are being accelerated at maximum possible speed without sacrificing quality or commitment to the original design goals.

Like many of you, I also have a SA on order. And we'll probably get a pair (LH & RH) of early receivers to use for modeling into our stock geometries.

I have two short actions on order & am chomping

at the bit to get them completed too. However,

these are brand new, from the ground up,RIFLE

ACTIONS. This type of product requires a bit more

care & attention in the safety & Q/C than one

that has no safety & liability issues should

it malfunction. It would be irresponsible to

rush to market with a defective product that

could kill someone. So MRC, please take your

time and GET IT RIGHT the first time. [Cool]

Gentleman,

Yesterday I went to the Montana Rifleman website,
The Montana Rifleman, clicked on "contact us",
sent a message, and within 2 hours Dan called me and sent me an e-mail that answered all my questions.

Try it, it's a fast and easy way to confirm your action delivery, or ask any other needed questions.

Remember "There is no such thing as a stupid question"!

However, in my experience ,there are an awful lot of inquisitive idiots out there. Sometimes I resemble that remark. [Big Grin]

Regards,

Bob

If I told ya...I'd have to....

Six weeks, maybe seven. Possibly earlier. I would not steal Dan's thunder.

The problem is that I'm in the process of finalizing another project right now. Another 6 weeks, and we'll both miss out. They ought to give us at least a hint.

Guys I'm sorry that I haven't given you the updates as frequently. Rod@AcraBond said it well when he said things are going at a frantic pace. We are pushing hard on the shorts and lefty longs. I will contact Pinetree today and see if he can send me a new update for a post tomorrow.
