Steve E.Question on magazine lengthening............
I have a 1909 Argentine action barrelled 280 Ack Imp and was wondering was the best way to lengthen the magazine box, I have to seat the bullets too deep to take advantage of all the Ack Improvement can give. What does something like this usually cost? I don't want to mess with the feed ramp in the action so would I gain enough with making the mag box longer to be wotrh it? I have cobbled together a few rifles but have never did this alteration to a magazine. Any of the guys here do this type of jobs? Sorry for all the questions.

jeffeossoSteve,
this is a tough job to learn how to do. Best advice is to leave the front ramp the heck alone, if you can, and save that for LAST.
how much "short" is you mag? If you want to keep your 1909 bottommetal, then you'll be looking at thinning the backwall and moving the bolt stop back.
hope this gets you started

Steve E.Thanks Jeffeosso, I wasn't going to go as far as messing with the feed ramp, one reason is it feeds perfect and it houses the lower locking recess. But I kinda thought that thinning the rear wall would be the only route short of cutting, extending and welding. I haven't checked the actual measurement I would need yet but I know that to seat the bullets out to touch the lands I would have to go into the feed ramp and to me that would be a no-no. I guess it's time to get out the files. Thanks again for the info.
