I have a Tikka T-3 LH in .243 that I would like to re-barrel to a .257 Roberts. The Tikka platform action length will accomodate standard size cartridges, as well as short action ones. The magazines are one length and short action cartridge magazines have a block in them, preventing the shorter length cartridges from slipping back and forth in the magazine. I have looked at loading data and can't find any standard OAL of .257 Roberts loads over 2.8" but am certain that a barrel with a long throat will allow me to seat the bullets farther out. Two questions: 1. Is my thinking solid or am I forgetting something? 2. I'll need some names of 'smiths who are recommended for re-barrel projects. Thanks for your input.

No reason in the world to not cut your chamber to handle a longer OAL Maximize your net capacity. For a Douglas barrel it is hard to beat ITDs price. http://itdcustomgun.com/_wsn/page6.html As to extra work or longer throat you would need to ask. I've been happy with the work Too Manytools has done for me. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
