Duane Wiebe,

That rifle is magnificent. You are to be complimented on your extreme skill. It is superb in every way.

Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.

When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!

Do that with your optics.

Duane,
Those are beautiful.

On the rear square bridge?

Do you add the rear bridge on the existing rear ring, or do you mill the rear bridge off, down to the top of the lugway and weld the new bridge on.

Duane,

I was thinking about this the other day? Why didn't you use a rail mount scope? And attache the back of the scope to the rail?

Only a true gun slut would think of that.

Beautiful work, are you starting with a 1.250" barrel blank? The quarter ribs look great.

Awesome!!!!! I don't normally like the front ring out on the bell like that, but salvaging that gorgeous crest makes it all fall together. really magnificent work by all.

I'm curious, where did the tools come from for the flat top checkering job? or did it get done as point and then knocked down?

Also, the pics are great showing the fixture for the extended tang. I always like seeing how that machining is done and the fixtures used.

has anybody ever had the crest disappear (surface grinding the action) and then chose to put it back? I'm sure Roger could do it, just wondering if anybody has bothered, and the cost.

or once it's surface ground why bother?

I added the rear bridge on top...tightens up PLENTY after the welding

No..good question and I have a couple upcoming jobs that will be done just that way. There is some added bulk, but S&B scopes blend pretty nicely...Swarovski needs to go back to school

Duane,
So you actually get some shrinkage in that rear ring bore that tightens it some. But you do not mill the rear ring off to the top of the lugways. Correct?

Hi Stuart: Yeah, pretend it's a scope base that's being welded on...Can't actually insert bolt afterwards

Thank you Duane, who are you using for barrel blanks? I talked to Krieger today but the wait is painfully long.

Magnificent rifles Duane, indeed!! Almost the two rifles I want to have !!
Two questions:
How far did yo go up front at extending the magazine? And how far to the rear?
Did you modified the bolt stop?
Best regards !

Well, hope this doesn't fire off another unending debate about opening actions...but here goes!

Most of the opening takes place at the front...realistically, .040 is about the max that can come off the bolt stop

Beautiful rifles. love the treatment with the bolt handles. And the bolt handle inletting on the stock. Why is it that our own manufacturer's inletting was done with a hatchet and a bastard file?. Usually the inlet is so big you could store extra ammo. Well done. Thanks for sharing. Frank
