I've bedded a few Mausers before, but this will be my first Model 70.

Does anyone have any advice?

The more specific the better, actually, and best would be referral to a site with an illustrated tutorial.

TIA,

flaco

There is little difference between bedding the Model 70 and the Mauser. The different locations of the forward action screws between the two receivers, determine where you need to apply the bedding to ensure solid contact with the receiver.

For instance, with the Mauser, because the anchoring point for the forward action screw is the lug, you have to bed the bottom of the lug, up the back of the lug and the receiver flat. The Winchester requires contact with the back of the lug and the location of it's anchoring point, the flat behind the lug.

If desired, you will need to install a separate, full length pillar at the location of the forward action screw, but other than this, prep and treat them the same.
