My department has several semi-auto M-14's they received through the government. They are wonderfull weapons but a tad long to carry in a patrol car. A fellow officer was asking me if anyone makes a bullpup kit for the M-14? I told him I knew where to ask. Sooo...does anyone make one? Thanks, Eterry Good luck and good shooting. Might recommend that they strip the bolts and check the headspace on those government offered M-14's. One of our local Departments purchased 9 of them and started having problems. They brought them in for me to inspect and every single one exhibited excess play on a 7.62 field. Apparently they don't check them over very well before selling them to the various departments. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. Yes, a couple of folks advertise such things. But I'd try out a high power bullpup if you haven't already. IME they are not what I'd want in a serious rifle - too much boom and action too close to your face and crappy fore end hold point. They will not be fun AT ALL for leftys. but you didn't ask for reviews, just the facts AWC Systems was making one for about a grand, but I don't see it on their website anymore and these guys say they are making one. http://www.shortrifles.com/index.html

The Dept. has had the rifles about 10-15 years, they were aquired through the 1099 program, a sort of lend-lease program. I am not sure if they were headspaced after they arrived, but they all had tags on them showing that they were checked over and ready for service before shipping to us. We have used 4 of them extensively, training and qualifying officers for patrol rifle carry with no problems at all. Thanks for the help yeti; but I doubt they wanna spend that kind of money on the rifles when they can get M-4's cheaper. It was a thought. thanks again, Eterry Good luck and good shooting. AWC did make a M14 conversion but I believe it is no longer available. I have seen these guns for sale at 5K+. You might vist AR15.com or Sturmgehwer.com and do a search. AWC made about 100 of the bullpup M1A/M-14 rifle back in the early '90's. The price back then was about $1500 if you provided the base rifle. I was talking to Walt Birdsong(W.E.Birdsong & Assoc. developers of the Black-T finish)a few weeks back and we got on the subject of the AWC rifle. He has owns the proto-type that was built. Mine one of the first group of 25 that were built. Short version is that the last time he saw one up for sale was a few years back and the asking price was $17K. Ouch! And it sold pretty quickly. Some friends of mine were looking at acquiring the rights to produce the rifle again.
