I am starting to gather the parts needed for my first project rifle. I am looking for a lightweight bolt shroud for my VZ 24. Can some one point me in the right direction. I struck out a Brownells and Midway. Thanks for your help.

I don't know what you mean by "lightweight bolt shroud."

They're all within a fraction of an ounce or so.

I probabaly have a hundred M-98 shrouds.....what do you need?

Look in the Brownells cat pg. 9, they have:
Gentry M-98, 3 Position Safety #9C120P00
Dakota M-98 with Wing Safety #9E116D16
Brownells Large Ring Bolt Shroud #8G32H73
Color Case Mauser Bolt Shroud #8G55H26
The last two require you to install a trigger with built in safety such as the Timney or Bold.

By the way, the Gentry and Dakota are 2.5 oz. (71 gr.) and the two Brownell models are 2 oz. (57 gr.).

Wow, thanks all for the fast replys. I'll clarify my post. I'm looking for an aluminum bolt shroud with no safety. My new trigger has a safety on it already. I found an aluminum trigger gaurd and floor plate and that gave me the idea that there ought to be an aftermarket aluminum bolt shroud for the 98. I have seen them for the Rem 700 and figured its out there...somewhere. Thanks.

Aluminum won't work as a M-98 shroud. The Mauser stops the forward motion of the firing pin with the shroud and all the friction from cocking is transferred to the shroud.

The FN style is probably the lightest and most streamlined of all of them. Make me an offer. You want bright or blued?

I would be interested in the shiny one...and possibly other Mauser items you might have laying around. How do I contact you? I'm buddy1@dslextreme.com
Thanks.

Jack,

You say you have a "hundred" or so laying around?

I need a dozen or so, how much?
