Filling in pits on receiver

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1908 Brazilian receiver that has some pitting near the wood line. I would like to fill the pits in with something. What you would you all suggest to use? Bondo, JB Weld, or something else. I plan on using a spray on finish like Aluma Hyde II or Duracoat after filling the pits.

Thanks for your suggestions, Eric

jumping Hey don't pick on Earl I had him paint my VW Bus about 30 years ago. Put the darn paint on so thick that rain left dents 4 days later.
So see Earl wouldn't use JB weld he would just use more Duracoat. rotflmo

As usual just my $.02

Hey Ramrod,

Reminds of a guy I knew back in the 70's who actually stuccoed his VW, painted it green and called it the Moon Rock. And yes, he was stoned when he did it.

Now that's funny. I once saw a Caddy that had pennies glued to it.

whatta buncha tough guys.

I did exactly what the guy describes to an M1 carbine, and I'm still pleased with the results.

custom? no. decent usable rifle on the cheap? yes.

and I had a good time doing it, especially the high I got from spraying the baking lacquer hillbilly

Don't have to go to that extreme covering pits to enjoy the rifle. For instance, a friend of mine married a gal who had pits and zits and they came into a little money. He asked me what he should do with it and I told him to give her larger breasts. He said why and I told him larger breasts will take our eye's off her face. Same with an ugly rifle, instead of filling in the pits and applying cheap paint, give it big breasts, no one will know! Big Grin

Of course, if you find yourself standing around a roaring bon fire, downing beers with bubba before a pig hunt, make sure your rifle doesn't have a trap door butt plate. The breasts will only add to the confusion Big Grin
