Hi I don t think it is dirt as the trigger has never been installed The adjustment screw needs a .050 allen key that i will look for in the morning If that doesn t work i will remove and check the trigger shoe Thanks for the help Sydney

Since it's a 30-40 yo trigger, might try a soak in an appropriate solvent to dissolve the dried oil and crud. A little dried oil goes a long way to contribute to fubar.

In order for the set trigger to function reliably, the trigger has to be set fairly light when unset. The trigger shoe is too short and light. I have one here but I replaced the set trigger shoe with another and just use the trigger unset. Regards, Bill

It should trip at 2 pounds. One thing that can be done is to remove the set trigger shoe and remove the spring. With the spring removed, check to be sure the shoe pivots freely on it's pin. If movement is impeded, it cushions the transfer of inertia and the set trigger won't work. At the same time, check that the spring is not bent or binding. Setting the main trigger down to 24 ounces would probably work but you should not have to set the trigger that light. They usually won't work at 3 pounds but 2 should be OK. Regards, Bill.
