Does anyone know if Winchester ever made the Model 70 XPR FW in 257 Roberts AI, I have one but the barrel is not stamped "AI", jsut 257 Roberts; so I wondering if it was reamed after market?

I don't know that I have ever heard of any factory chambering by any company of an Ackley Improved chamber. Might be a custom shop gun maybe but I would think they would properly stamp it.

I doubt that Winchester ever made an "AI" chamber

If you have one it was altered after the initial purchase.......and some barrels were never marked as such as the parent cartridge was still available for use in the gun.

As far as I have ever heard or read, Winchester did not ever make any factory guns for sale in any Ackley Improved chamberings.

They may have made one or more for in-factory testing over the years, and at one time in the late '20s and the '30s they would do special barrels for special people (like Dr. Mann, Adolph Niedner, Fred Ness, etc.) in both the Models 54 & 70, but they didn't make them as general sale guns.
