ramrod340Nice. Cheek Piece turned out good. Just about the right amount of wood.
As usual just my $.02

Perfect; BTW guys, Ram turned the stock; even though I have a duplicator, he is better at it. Now I need another one.

ramrod340Thanks. The smart $$ won't let me close to a lathe or mill.

As usual just my $.02

hogfarmerVery nice, did you have to do any extractor modifications since the 35 Remington rim is somewhat smaller than the 6.5x55?

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.
Thanks;
I was surprised to find that the 35 Rem feeds and ejects perfectly.

drhall762IIRC 9x49 is the European designation of the .35 Remington cartridge.

Just because they say you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you.
The 9x49mm Mauser cartridge has a long history of exemplary performance on medium game. It shoots a 200 grain bullet at 2250 fps so it falls below the 9x57 in terms of performance on game, but it is excellent for hogs, deer, and black bear.
They had little need for it in Europe since they already had good 9mm and 9.3s, so it never caught on there, but was immensely poplar in the US. for well over 100 years. Remember, the 35 Rem was designed for pumps and autos and uses a smaller case head than the standard .470. No need for that in Europe.
And the fact is, that I made up the metric name for the 35 Remington, last week.
And the wood is nice; it was sold to me as English but it is not very tight grain but is very heavy.

drhall762Actually Tom I think someone else beat you to it naming wise. My Spanish is terrible but here it is.

ramrod340That is the first time I cut that pattern. I like it. It actually has a Schnabel tip that Tom removed.
Happy to cut you guys one.
As usual just my $.02

Interesting; I had never seen a reference to that metric designation; I will still take credit for the name, in the US anyway. I have the only rifle I know of that is marked '9x49mm'.

Nordic2Official metric name.
8,9x49 .35 Remington Auto only allowed for roedeer and smaller animals in Sweden. Pumps have never been popular here and im not sure if autos were allowed then the cartrigde were made.
Must not be too official since it is not on the CIP list as a metric cartridge. I still claim the name 9x49mm in the US and I will license anyone to use it for $1 million.
In that case I will chamber that barrel you sold me and stamp it ".366 Bock." I claim the .366 Bock in the US and will license IT for $1 million.

Let's see.... is it 20 years experience or is it 1 years experience 20 times?
And I will have you know that I am not an old fart. I am a curmudgeon. A curmudgeon is an old fart with an extensive vocabulary and a really bad attitude.
OK, I hereby recognize your claim to all rights to the name, .366 Bock and grant you total control over it's use and licensure for the next 99 years.
Thanks dpcd. Oh and I totally forgot my manners here. That is s very nice looking rifle. I built one on a 95 Chilean many years ago myself and it is one I'll never sell... of course mine is just a common .35Rem.

Thanks; I had it at the range today; it shot into one inch; velocity was 2091 fps with 37 grains of 3031; factory level loads to test things out. I really like this rifle although I just built it to keep myself off the gambling boats. It kicks about like a 9.3 but it is lighter too.

theback40Did you throat it out any? In my carcano it really helped the feeding, along with extra powder space of course.
No, I don't have a throater or I would. It feeds perfectly though. If I had a throater I would use it for more powder capacity, although, it is fine as it is. If I want more power, I have a few 9.3s for that job.
