Customer mailed in a Win 101 12 ga for service. He included barrel inserts for 20 and .410 gauge for function testing plus a bag of extractors for each gauge. We repaired the gun and mailed it back. Now he claims he is missing the right .410 extractor. We didn't inventory the bag when it arrived, so we are stuck. I can't find one anywhere including Midwest, Ebay and Old Arms of Idaho. If anyone has one for sale please PM me. It is one-piece and 2 - 3/16 inches long.

Thanks,

Bob

No luck using a flashlight all around the work area huh Bob? If you're over 60 like me, a strong light will help to find things that were lost, some for a couple years. Good luck to you.

Our 'smith that was working on it has a bench that looks like a nuclear weapon went off. The shop would have to shut down for a day while all 7 employees searched it. If it was up to me, I'd make him clean that crap up w/o pay until he had gone through it. That extractor at MGW looks similar but is too short. Thanks though.

Oh darn. Too short aye. Had no clue there were variations for this model.
Well. If he lost it, he should step up to replace it not you. Just my opinion. I don't do repairs just work on my own projects. But, if I lost something or made any kind of error no matter what the reason, I would make it right. Good luck Bob.

Wouldn't be too difficult to lengthen the part from Midwest. I note it is not for direct sale to the public but must be fitted by Midwest so lengthening and fitting would all be part and parcel of the job.

At the end of the day if the original extractor was in it's bag, it must be somewhere on the smiths bench or on the floor around it. It sounds like he doesn't clean up his bench or surrounds so not likely the part has been thrown out. If I was employing him he would be on no pay until cleaned up and the part found.
