| Wouldn't it be easier to get taller rings or a smaller scope? I have a Burris compact 4-12x on mine and have no clearance problems. I would if I put my Leupold Vari-X II on it though. |

| gosh that is the exact gun I have been itching for. which rings are you using, seems most people have the least trouble with CZ rings. If you get tired of that thing give me a holler |

| You are correct about the 527's limited bolt clearance.
The problem is caused by the excessive length of the bolt handle root. Compared to even .473" bolts of other makes its profile is much higher. However the indent for the bolt lock-down is in that large root.
A good smith could grind (easiest but it would thin the handle) or cut and weld to lower its profile but the bolt locking would be sacrificed. I'd say a good .1" could be gained.
If you mean only knob clearance for your fingers a longer bolt shank is the solution and a smith can weld in a section or Brownell's might have some long ones in the white that could be welded on to solve clearance issues in both areas. 527's have plenty of knob clearance IMO but are sure stingy on scope height. (Hence the high factory rings)

I've got Millet rings on both of my CZ527s (hornet & .223). Medium height I believe and I got mine from Midway. I had factory rings on my hornet, ended up tossing them and both now sport the Millets. Warne also makes ones for the 527 but at the time getting the Millets was much quicker.
I'll keep you in mind but you will have a very long wait. |

| Cummins , I just got it 6 months ago and it shoots sub MOA .I won't be getting rid of it .Do what I did ,save up a couple of years and go order the exact model you want.I would suggest you look at the Charles Daly Micro Mauser.I was unaware of these and they have some good features.Love my CZ but might get my boy a Daly .
Thanks guys for your response ,my gun works fine I was just thinking I might refine it and make it a little better. |

| these things are addicting my kevlar varmit averages .5 moa with 5 shots. I have come to realize there is one hell of a difference between a 5 shot and a 3 shot groups. This is with about 3 types of factory ammo no less,I don't think I have ever fired a 5 shot group over moa. The action on mine is one of the smoothest I have ever seen on any rifle. Now I need the carbine version to give the varmit model some company. You can find some screaming deals on these if you can find one used, but I haven't been able to find a carbine model used |

Taller rings exacerbate the problem of the stock comb already being on the low side for proper cheek contact when the eye is aligned with the scope sight picture. It seems that Europeans don't seem to mind having their heads bob around in mid-air while their eye seeks the sight picture, as many European rifles have BOTH low combs and HIGH scope rings.
CZ really needs to redesign their bolt handle to allow for lower scope mounting if they want that particular model to truly reflect its name -- "American". |

| CZ modified my bolt handle for free. I've read of them doing this for others. When I called, they first said no, but when I pointed out they had done free for a number of people, they said they would do mine for free as well.
The modification, results in the bolt handle they now sell. |

| It's not difficult at all. A couple of minutes on a bench grinder and you're good to go. I'm lazy so I just cold blued it for the time being. Next time I run a batch I'll try to remember to throw it in the blueing tank. Doug Humbarger NRA Life member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club 72'73. Yankee Station Try to look unimportant.
