I recently bought an older Sako L-57 and I fined the safety does not lock the firing pin, only the bolt. You can't keep a loaded round in the chamber safely. If you pull the trigger it fires even with the safety ON. Is this the way they were made? I've had a bunch of L-46's and 61's but never a 57 before. I can get by it but it annoying. My L-57 blocks the firing pin, a good smith should look at yours. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

I thought that was correct. The problem is there ain't a "good 'smith" around here anymore. The ATF got on him for records indiscretions a few years go. Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing.
