I am going to have a custom LH mauser made up & have been talking to Gary Stiles here in Pennsylvania. I have seen his work and like it.This rifle will be a 35 whelen with custom bolt handle, metal checkering and custom stock. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used him. If so please give me your opinions pro or con. Thanks!

Local Legend in Western PA and beyond... Lots of very good work by Stiles... Ever see his miniature Mauser .22RF he made? Anyway like most good smiths, long wait... Make sure he is "in to" doing your project- results will be better. Be very specific about what you want. Are you planning on converting a military mauser or a commercial lefty?

A commercial lefty action. I have talked to him about this project over the past few months. It will be a very traditional project so he is into it. He likes doing mausers. He told me that I could expect the rifle 18 months after dropping off the action & blank. Long wait but I like what I have seen from him. Thanks for the input.
