FN Mauser 98 in Butler Creek stock.
Does the bedding start about an inch from the front of the lug, or does it start at the front of the chamber where the rifling starts, which is another inch + toward the forend. The barrel will not be touching the stock in front of this.

Typically, the epoxy will flow forward approximately 1" in front of the receiver. It can go further forward as long as it remains evenly distributed and ends uniformly.
