What is the lightest barrel profile would you recommend?

In the past I have stuck pretty close to the factory Winchester contour, but am shooting for a bit lighter on this next one.

It will be 416 Rem or if Jamison or Dakota gets their act together, a 416 Dakota.

I just built a 411. I went with a #4 because they wouldn't supply a #3. I went #3 on my 375 and I like it better.

As usual just my $.02

My 400 H&H is a Pac-Nor #4. If I had it to do again, I would call and beg for a #3, even if I had to shorten the barrel some to get to their minimum wall thickness. The 4 is just a tad too heavy for a carrying rifle (for me).

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
