I am considering this rifle but do not like the shiney finish. How easy would it be to make it more of a satin finish?

Real easy, just wrap it up in duct tape "Molotov Cocktails don't leave fingerprints" -Dr. Ski

Hard to say without trying. Sometimes a good rub down with 4F pumice and water will take the shine off, but not always. Might need to be refinished. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

as long as you've decided to refinish I'd give it a good workout with 0000 steel wool and see what you think of it. Also Brownell's spray finish "gun oil" I think is a very good finish and is in satin and it might just spray over the old finish.....careful as some finishes are not chemically compatible and it might fail to dry or blotch badly and then it has to be removed as well....but I'd sure try it as it's not a problem to remove it with medium steel wool. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." What if I ended up sending it to a stock guy for a refinish... How much you think it would cost?

I would charge $375 but that would cover the recheckering also. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

If a stock is coated with polyurethane the easiest method to remove it is to use Permatex Gasket Remover which makes it water soluable,my gunsmith taught me that trick after I tried w/o success to strip a highly figured walnut 870 stock. After removal it ended up with a hand rubbed oil finish which really brought out the quality of the walnut.
