Has someone out there had a Remington 760 in .35 Remington rechamgered to either .358 Winchester or 35 Whelen. If so, how well does it function and who performed the alteration?

Since the action is already "06" length anyway, why not go for the Whelen, or better yet 35 Whelen Ackley Improved?

I hope you find someone to do the work well for you. I had a 760 Rem in .35 Rem, which I took to a famous shop in northern Phoenix, AZ, to have the same conversion done...to .35 Whelan, that is. It sat there almost 5 months. Finally, they told me the conversion was impossible, mumbled something about the barrel extension making it undoable, and returned the rifle to me. I found that interesting for two reasons...1) I had shot another 760 rifle which had been so converted, which is why I wanted mine done. 2) The fellow who accepted the rifle for conversion when I delivered it, said it would be no problem. Anyway, it will be interesting to hear what you find. Good luck, AC

The 760 in 35 Rem is almost a collectors item, why not sell it and buy a 7600 in 35 Whelen, which are readily available.. In a 760 it would easier to rebarrel a 30-06 to 35 Whelen or 9.3x62 from a feeding standpoint.

I have ran the 35 Whelen in a 760 for over 25 years with no problems at all. Just rebored a 30-06 in those days. Have rebarreled & rechambered many of these in my area. Only thing is I have never recovered a 250gr Speer from any animal I ever downed with it. They all went on thru.
