Like to see what profiles&chamber reinforce geometry you would consider on a tasteful walnut stocked Large ring m98 30-06. No open sights planned, just a barrel band. Final weight needs to be around 8lb,with 6x leupold. Win-Fw type ultra short reinforces dont turn me on. Also, can one recommend a Pedigree smith (thats not booked up for 6 months or more) that could reliably do: an action tune(receiver face, thread, lug bearing area, bolt lugs & bolt face) and high grade barrel fit up?

I personally like the LW 5130 barrel profile. ......civilize 'em with a Krag

I like the LW too but I don't think it'll come in under 8lbs though. I've got one and it balances well and carries easy. For the smith I would talk to Mike McCabe and see if he couldn't work you in the rotation. Terry -------------------------------------------- Well, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

LW 5130 does appear heavy for what I had in mind.

Might consider pulling up Douglas or Krieger, etc. web sites and profiles are shown as well as weights and give you an idea as to which one to select. Sure other mfg.'s do also, but Douglas will profile to suit within reason.
