Wondering what kind of bolt action I should use for a 308. What manufacture should I be looking for?

Blair--

That would depend entirely on what YOU want. Most everybody does or has made one so it's up to you to pick the one with the features and appearance you want.

Picking an action is like picking underwear. Best done by the one gonna wear 'em. [Smile]

For a repeating rifle, Remington 700 or Winchester 70. For single shot Nesika.

Blair, If you are wanting to build your rifle off of a military "98" action, the Mexican Mauser was made on a short action that would be ideal for the .308.
