Hi all,

Apparently getting something engraved is not so easy or simple any more. I am trying to get a stethoscope head engraved for my son, stainless and looks like this:

I would like either his name engraved on the concave sides, or his initials engraved possibly in some sort of escutcheon style.

If someone can work this into their schedule in the next couple of weeks please send me a PM, not looking for anything fancy. Had a guy decide over the weekend he couldn't do it, which is fine but just wish he'd decided that a month ago when I dropped it off.

Thanks for reading!

Mark

I think the town you are in will probably have baskets fulls of engraving shops. They do everything from trophy's to the little signs that tell people where to wait and where to pee. Most use laser or CNC engravers now and they are pretty cheep. It's also one of those shade tree, cottage industry things. Lot's of people get the get-rich-quick bug and buy those machines and do it out of their house. A lot of jewelers and print shops also do engraving. Most of them have about a 2 or 3 day turnaround.

Do a search on (engraving and laser engraving) with your closest town and state.

If you need to have hands on, classic engraving, Aaron Little was saying he was using John Todd out of Colorado. I'll bet he's not cheap and I'll bet he's not really quick. But it will probably be really good.

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

It is interesting that 30 years ago I could drive 7 minutes and have this engraved. A year ago the closest engraver was about 50 minutes away (needed something else engraved then) and now it appears the nearest place I can get something engraved is about an hour and a half away, perhaps a bit longer if traffic is bad.

Rod, if I had longer than a few weeks I'd try giving Mr. Todd a call but frankly I'd consider it rude behavior on my part at the moment as I suspect he is already booked with projects that are intended to be Christmas presents. However, thanks for the suggestion!
