Late model MKX Mag release
I have numerous older model MKXs with the magazine release inside the trigger guard. I have one late model that has the side button release. The bottom of the button is below the normal stock line so it requires a grove.

Is there any reason that I couldn't flatten the bottom of this button on both sides so that it would clear the wood on a stock inletted to the old MKXs?

As usual just my $.02

the "action" on that is the bar holding the mag shut, not the button so to speak. So, if you reduce the face of the button, you would in fact add MORE effort to opening... not a problem, if done right

You lost me Jeffe. I know there are no actual buttons just the two ends of the bar. There is a spring inside to keep it closed and in position. Removal of the metal on the non pushing side would have no impact. Removing it on the pushing side would give you less surface area to push against. Like pushing on a 1/8" bit vs a 1/4". Might be a little uncomfortable. Is that what you mean by MORE effort?

RR,
what you push on (the checkered end of the bar) is a button.... and if you remove surface aarea from that, it will be harder to push.... which aint bad, as it wont "mis-release" as easy (if it does)
