What barrel contour for .358 Win.?
As many have seen by my other questions, I'm having Hart rebarrel my Model 600 Remingon (.243) to .358 Win. I'm then having them bed it in a High Tech Specialties lightweight stock, along with adding a Timney trigger.

The finished result should be a pretty nice (and light) British Columbia back-country moose rifle.

Keeping with the "light" theme, what barrel contour should I ask for from Hart? Also, is fluting worth the price.

And while I'm at it, I've settled on 21 inches (the original .243 barrel is 18.5"). Can I shorten it any more without sacrificing too much velocity?

Assuming I read the dimesions correctly, I would choose their #2 contour and leave it at 21". You'd save maybe two ounces shortening it a couple inches. I'd leave it 21"
