Is anyone interested in getting paid to make a set of bedding pillars for a Small Sako? I could order from Brownell's and then hacksaw to the correct length, but I don't want a butcher job. Anyone want to make me an offer? I can e-mail the specs. Sorry if I am violating a board rule by engaging in commercial activity here.

I have cut them very slowly on a bandsaw. Hold them with vise-grips, not your fingers! Use a push stick.

I then true them up with a barrel facer (Brownell's) If you don't want to spend for a facer, just file them square.

The hacksaw is not really a bad route (and safer), just use the factory end against the action or lug and put your "custom" end toward the bottom metal. If you bed the bottom metal at all the squeeze-out will take care of any slight out-of-squareness.

It's not worth your time or money to get someone else to do it.

Email your exact specs and I will make you a set.
I will make them on my lathe and mill.

For those who might like to do it themselves.

Get some suitable tubing from the hardware store. They make some all thread kind of stuff for making electric lamps. Cut it a hair longer than you want. Chuck one of the pieces in an electric drill. Secure the drill in a vice. Turn it on. You just made an improvised lathe. File the end of the piece until it is square and even. Polish the end with sandpaper. It will look fine.

Thanks all of you for your very generous offers. I have accepted help from two gentlemen. Again, thanks to all. This kind of generosity is what makes this board great.

Sincerely,

Jordan
