If you need a cheap set of pin punches to take on a hunt or just keep handy try this. Buy a $1 set of "mini jewler's screwdrivers" at your local dollar/import store. Use a cutoff wheel to sever the bit heads and finger rests. Square the tips and voila!

If you make a set with short pins they can be used as very effective roll pin starter and driving punches too. Just select a punch with the right diameter pin and slip it in the roll pin. It holds it perfect and no damaged pins! If you damage it so what? Get another set for a dollar. I actually use a set of these at my bench for that purpose. They are indispensable for installing all of those roll pins in AR's.

I never purposely bought a set to turn into punches, but have turned many a worn / broken one into a punch. Good tip.
