Scot , Does Western Gunstocks have a web sight or Phone number?

Great American Gunstocks would be a good place to look too.
They have some nice wood and are pretty good . The inletting on mine was pretty good , tight, and straight, although you have do do some more fitting ofcourse. I got a nice fancy piece of black walnut for $250 plus tax shipping.

Look at Richards Microfit gunstocks out of the Republik of Kalifornia. They have a website, as well as selling seconds. I have two of their stocks, the wood is as advertised. They may take a while to get your order to you, but in my experience, the majority of stock suppliers are slow. Great American Gunstocks has good wood, but they are slow, too. I've had no problems, bought two stocks from them, but a friend of mine did with trying to return a stock that was cut slightly out of specs. He still has it.

I am considering restocking a Win. Model 70 with the nicest looking unfinished walnut stock I can get for about $200-$250. It should be inletted, but I will shape, sand and finish it myself. I suppose I would have to enlarge the barrel channel myself, as well. What stock company would you recommend for this?

If you can stand leaving the Bay area and going South, GO to Richard's. You can see the wood and stocks before you buy. I've bought two there, both seconds, got them for a song, but I don't remember the tune, and on the guns you wouldn't believe they were seconds. It will pay for your trip.

That is the one. He has great wood and knows what he is doing. He is a behind the scenes supplier for some famous high grade manufacures. He bought out Pachmeyer and got some awesome pieces of wood there. Basically he has a warehouse, stacked th the rafters, full of high grade gunstocks and blanks. Call first, then go see. You will be amazed. Can't recomend him enough.

Avoid the SO CAL guy mentioned. He sells poor quality goods. His people don't know what they are doing. He will just make you mad and waste your time.
