Thinking of buying a Smith 40 cal. M&P. Any suggestion on a smith to smooth out the receiver and doing something with the trigger. Thanks | ||

There is an extensive video of tuning up an M&P trigger out there .I'll see If I saved it.You need some skill to do it as I remember. You have another option in using an Apex system. The M&P has gotten a good reputation. I am not a pistol person. I do know that I need a really good trigger. Didn't know if there are things a smith can do to one like you do to a rifle. | |||

If your not a pistol person -- A typical pistol usually could use a trigger job. Other than that not much is needed unless there's a problem. For target use then tightening up the slide/receiver and a few other details. | |||

Forget that with the M&P. For the M&P, a typical tune up would include many of the things you would do to rifles, such as trigger work, crown, making sure the extractor doesn't interfere with the rounds moving up into position from the magazine. The M&P is a combat handgun and as such, doesn't lend itself well for a typical 1911 type "Bullseye" prep. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. As I typed that I was thinking of the finishes they use on guns like the Glock or HK .Those special case hardened guns require other considerations !!! A good gunsmith always first asks "what are you going to use the gun for ? " | |||

Thanks guys, It is headed to SLC,Utah to Malm. He has done a couple things for me in the past. Work was very good and the price was what I was willing to pay. | |||
