I'll try it tonight.
I have a set of Mauser 96 bases and rings (SK) and a few sets of Mauser 66 bases with horizontal split rings (Conetrol)

I asked the same question a few weeks ago, but I deleted my post when I saw how ugly the S&K base was for my application(Ruger no. 1).

My question was prompted by someone else claiming that S&K rings and bases are interchangeable with Gentry's.

Something else worth thinking about: Conetrol sells blank bases for about $35 if you were looking towards a custom set-up.

Did you ever get a firm answer?

Conetrol rings won't fit into SK bases. At least they won't drop in.

but you may be able the make them fit w/o much work. I didn't want to try it.
