Most Spanish Mausers are 1893 Mausers.

I just got two Spanish '93 Mausers 2/$15 at a gunshow, and the parts and receivers at FAC are cheap too.

For me to spend time working on a Mauser, I want to see those two holes on the bottom of the bolt to vent gas into the magazine.

What do you want to know in particular. Yes the Spanish made a model 98. they are all basicly the same .Any model 98 in good condition will make a good sporting rifle if you pour enough money into it.There are some thing's you need to remember 1st is that they are best used in calibers like 308 win or 7mm08 or any caliber that is a non magnum. this is because most of the belted magnum's are to big and they have to remove to much metal from the bottom lug recess area to make them feed properly. At the moment I am building a 308 sniper/varmint rifle. It's a Spanish La Coruna action that has a Shultz&Larson barrel fitted by an armorer in Adelaide,(a friend) a mark x adjustable trigger ,and at the moment it's in Adelaide again at a different gunsmith(another friend) getting a picatinny rail fitted.the gunsmith makes them from scratch himself .When I get it back I will get a laminated stock from Geoff Slee and I have to buy a bipod. All up cost by the time i'm finished will be about $1500.00 That's getting it done on the cheap by friend's.If you want to know more email me

Personally, I would not waste my time on a spanish made muaser. their QC runs all over the place. Mostly as pertains to metallurgy and heat treat.

I would not use a Spanish made Mauser 98 when there are so many good VZ-24s, 1909s, and quite a lot of good 1908s around..I like a good 1935 Chilean, Peruvian or such...

I would love to have a 1935 Mexican, the one with the Spingfield cocking piece..but thats just for a project I have in mind.

The K31s I got for ~$80, have the nicest barrel I have ever seen on military rifles.

I just don't have a scope mount for them yet.
