What is involved in converting a Siamese Mauser action to 50 Alaskan? A hunting buddy can buy the action only for about $400, he is thinking of building to 50 Ak; first, is $400 a reasonable price? second, how much work goes into this ? We have discussed and think a 22" barrel, synthetic stock, iron sights, to turn into a close up working rifle for moose or bear would be neat - would like to keep as light as possible, what profile barrel would be lightweight? Would another bolt type action be a better (i.e. more easily converted or lower cost) choice? Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated - KMule

$400 for a Siamese action! I have a couple for sale, only $399!

I wish I had some to sell for $400.00! That way too high. To the point of being insulting.

I also thought the price for the action was too high; beyond that, what about the idea of converting to 50 Ak? Thanks - KMule
