blahMercury tube (What size?)
My father just got a pair of CZ 550s, one in 416 and one in 458 Lott. (After he found out I ordered a RSM in the Lott
) Anyhow, he wants to add at least one mercury tube to each of them. What size, diameter, weight, etc should he look at? Also, one or two tubes? Is the install of one of thse tubes difficult? I've had one in a pump action slug gun for a while, but it went in the mag and not the stock. Depending on how this goes, I am considering putting one in my RSM Lott when it arrives as well. Thanks guys!

jeffeossookay, you shouldn't need them in the rsm, fwiw, as it weighs enough
the ones you'll be talking about will all be the 11 oz ones. I will tell you that the 7/8 diameter will be the easiest to get in,
be certain to drill a pilot hole in the stock, first, to guide yor woodbit in
i have done both parallel to bore and to toe line.. toe line seems to keep the flip down, some.
remember to put these in deep, cover the hole with a plug, and either glue the plug in or inlet for a metal strap under the pad.
the 416 cz will NOT need one, and the lott can be trained to from the 416

Thanks for the info. How deep is "deep" for drilling the hole?

jeffeossothe least "over" depth i've gone is about 1" longer than the tube.. probably overkill, but i like the plug to be long enough to take a beating AND it moves the weight more to "between your hands"
