I know I can get a Douglas, or Lothar Walther barrel quickly, as in under a week. I know they are plenty accurate for most of my uses. That said, I am partial to cut rifled barrels. Kriegers take a ridiculously long time (11 months), as of late. Depending on the caliber, Bartleins take 4-6 months. Now when I have a project in mind, I order exactly what I want, and make a payment every month.

I am partial to McMillan stocks as well. Those take 6 months for a custom order. Once again, I order exactly what I want (I'm partial to recessed sling attachments, as well as Ching sling set-ups), pay a down stroke, get a statement, and pay $150.00/month.

At the two month mark, I send the action off for blueprinting, firing pin bushing (if needed), shimming, etc. I start sending in monthly payments to the gunsmith as well.

When the barrel comes in, I inspect it and then send it on to my smith. Same for the stock.

Then I don't have to freak out when the job is done by scrambling for the $$ to pay for the skilled machine and hand work. It is nice staying ahead of the curve.

This is how factory air comes on Swedish models.
