has anyone had any gunsmithing work done by the shilen company? how is the quality of their work? i have one of their barrels on my 6 PPC and it shoots great but it was installed by jack belk, not shilen. since i live about 25 miles from the shilen people(shilen is in ennis texas) i'm thinking about haveing them rebarrel, re-trigger, and polish and blue a brno 98/22 action for me. all pros, cons, ideas and suggestions are very welcome. thanks...bud

They built me 2 rifles a long time ago - when I was living in Texas. And they did a great job. One was a varmint rifle and one was a hunting rifle. The vermint rifle will shoot into the 1s and the hunting rifles will shoot half inch groups.

My father and I have had 3 guns rebarreled/installed by them and the work was top notch on all of them. We also have several of their triggers, one installed by them, the rest installed by my father. I also had Doug (Shilen) do a trigger job on my Remington 788. Being in Austin, I always drive up there and drop it off and talk to them about what I want done, in person. I hate dealing with people on the phone when I don't have to. Anyway, I think they'll do an excellent job on the items that you're talking about.

saeed and kingfisher...thanks for the replies. this project was competing with another(the purchase of a cz 550 varmint laminated in 308) after consulting with my budget manager, the cz won out over the shilen project. now the cz is ordered and the shilen/muaser deal is on the back burner for awhile. but thanks anyway...i will go with them when she(the budget manager) gives me the go-ahead. cheers...bud
