I received my cz 550 american magnum again today for the second time. Several weeks ago I posted that my then new rifle would not hit the paper at 100 yards with the 1.75-6 Leupold scope adjusted all the way up. In fact it was 11" low at 100 yards with Norma factory solids. After talking with Gary at Talley and measuring per his instructions, I determined that the problem was probably with the rifle. After calling Mike Eagleshield with CZ America and obtaining return authorization, I shipped off the rifle, scope and rings. Two phone calls later I was informed that some of the large bore CZs had alignment problems from the factory and mine was one of those and would be replaced under warranty. Tonight when I unpackaged the rifle, I found my scope, rings and a different barreled action. It appears to have been some sort of refirbished action in my original stock. I just spent the last two hours trying to adjust the trigger to some sort of decent break ( the original rifle adjusted very nicely). While working with the rifle, I noticed that the middle leaf sight is marked 300, same as the second leaf. They are visually notched successively shallower and will probably work OK (original rifle flipped up both leaves under recoil). Not a big problem as I intend to use scope unless close quarters shooting becomes necessary. Anyway purpose of post is to notify anyone anticipating CZ purchase for use this year to allow sufficient time to debug the weapon properly. While I can't complain about the lenght of time CZ took to acknowledge problem, I do resent the fact the they returned merchandise that is still less than 100% and seemingly inferior to my Winchester Classic in 375. I don't know if this helps anyone but I feel better now. Best of luck. Jeff

Jeff, if you are unhappy with the repair, return it. Your atf form states a specific SN, and it is ILLEGAL for them to return a differnt SN toyou jeffe

That's a new thought. The serial number is definitely different as it is a different barreled action. My problem is that I leave on August 6 and have no idea how long a proper repair would take if that is even possible. I feel I have much to do with load development and getting use to shooting the rifle and hate to waste any more time. Perhaps I should shoot what I have and then decide as the action appears to have been fired previously. I heard so many good things about the CZ but this has changed my opinion of them. Jeff

the Manufacturer or importer can return a different weapon to you ie different serial number. as a replacement weapon. This can be done directly to you without going through a dealer. David
