Gentlemen:

Is there a product for touching up scratches on alloy scope tubes? I'm referring to minor surface scratches and ring marring.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have asked myself that same ? before. This is what my answer was. Why bother, If ring marks or scratch's bother you, sell it and by a new scope.

I have seen some badly mared Leupold's sell for almost new on ebay.

If it is a rare scope it might be worth more as is.

Buliwyf,

Birchwood Casey makes a "swab on" product called "Aluminum Black" which will blacken scratches in aluminum. Don't try to color a large area with it or it will resemble a bad water color...

Good luck,

Malm

I use a black lacquer spray paint. The stuff for engines & barbeque pits works fine. Spray some on a plastic lid of some sort & apply to the scratch with a tooth pick.
