Chaps, I am currently finishing an walnut stock and am sanding (block) the tooling marks and profiling the cheek piece, fore end etc With the stock I received two bottles: 1. Ship & Shore with Alkanet 2. Velvet Oil with Alkanet What is the application of these products and at what stage during the finishing process? I have yet to fill the pores which sounds quite intensive. Is one of these products for this application? I have done some research on this site but cannot find these products by the above mentioned names. Any help will be most appreciated. Final question - is it worth sealing the wood before final sanding? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

You might try the process described by board member Duane Wiebe. I have used this method several times with great results. It really helps to have a dry, warm, dust free place to do the finishing. http://www.customgunandrifle.c...icle&id=15&Itemid=14 Jim

Yes, seal with Ship & Shore prior to final sanding, filling the pores. Let it dry thoroughly then final sand with a little Velvet oil as lubricant. John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!
