Anyone have a link to repairing a Sharidan 20 cal/5mm air rifle?

Or instructions for R and R the "guts"

I have this link

http://www.airgunwarehouseinc.com/py-a-911.html

Not sure which way to push out the guts, then push them back in to replace the O rings, with out cutting up the new O rings. Push it out and in the back or the muzzle end.

The Sheridan Air Rifle oh yes brings back warm memories of boyhood running the backwoods trails sniping squirrels with this lightweight powerhouse...

You want MAC1 Airguns in California. They have a website. The owner is Tim McMurray, he is a bit gruff (like most gunsmiths hehehe) so be prepared. Tim has a Sheridan technican that can put a rebuilt tune on that piece better than factory new. I went for a '14 pump tune' around 1990? or so and the gun still booms them out like the day I got it back from him...

Make sure it's not collectable before you start messing- disassembly takes specialized tools and reseal jigs- best to send it out!

Debee, I got it all apart. This is a newer one and uses the kit like in my link. Its pretty simple and no special tools are needed on this one.
It has a 2 piece solid brass section with O rings on each end that fastens inside the tube.
I pushed it out the muzzle end with a shotgun cleaning rod. Has 3 rubber o rings and a rubber on the fireing plunger and the rubber on the pump rod.
Ill order the kit and should be good to go. I will check out McMurrays site

MAC1 did three Sheridans for me too; all are 14 pumpers now. What a great air rifle they've become with the added velocity/power!!!
Those guys flat know Sheridans...

Great memories of walking the West Texas mesquite with my trusty Sheridan "Silver Streak". Beat up, it sleeps in the back of my gun safe today. Replaced by a "Benjamin" style Sheridan.

Other than a Model 63 Winchester 22 Long Rifle the Sheridan 5MM was the best gift I had as a boy! It brought dove, quail and cottontailed rabbits to the dinner table!

I had (and still have) a blue streak.

I found that in a pinch you can lightly squeeze the heads on 22 caliber pellets and they shoot fairly decently. Don't resize the skirts, they swage down easily enough when the bolt pushes them in. A non issue now, but way back when, the 20 caliber pellets were sometimes hard to find.

Anyway, I was able to get a reprint of the owners manual from the crosman corporation. I don't remember if it cost anything, it may have been free but at the most it was only a couple of bucks. It has repair instructions in the back of the book.

Depends on the year of manufacture.

A BIG AMEN to that!!
I think the Win 63 is about the best rifle a kid could get, even today. No 10-22 or other rifle can touch the 63 in any respect.

I read over Mac 1s site and called him to see if he offered a kit or any "hotrod" tips for a Do it Yourselfer. He doesnt.

Anyone know what he modifies to the Brass chamber valve assembly? All he told me is his exhaust valve has a perlin O ring that probably last longer than the rubber one.
Does he machine the air chamber of the valve assembly to open it up for alittle more air volume?
I read about his 14 pump capacity. I have always just pumped 10 as max

I don't know in detail what Mac does for his upgrades. I doubt that he'd pass any tips on it either.
All I know is they work, and work well.
During winter here, to keep from going goofy, I have a 10 meter range set up in the house for air rifle shooting. I've shot Mac's Sheridans a whole lot on my in home range, and the accuracy is superb. If you want some physical training, try pumping up a Sheridan to the max number for a bunch of shots... Big Grin It's sporting, to say the least.
I'd send a rifle to Mac and pay him to do the work. He stands behind his work too, or he did. One of the three I had done leaked air, so I sent it back and he fixed it free of charge, and an apology too.
He's tempremental, but so am I... Big Grin

Try it, you'll like it! thumb

Rusty,
I never did own a 63, but always wanted one. The prices for them are HIGH today. So I bought a Taurus 63 also. It never malfunctions, very accurate for 50 yard tin can shooting, and is just a joy to shoot. When the grand kids come up, we head to the range with the Taurus and a brick of Rem Thunderbolts for a tin can shoot!!! Big Grin
