Ruger Sends Replacement Options.. Update

After the long thread on this a few weeks ago...

on November 15th, I had a conversation with Robert Wood, the Manager at Product Services at Ruger's New Hampshire location.... and he agreed to send the action back to me, since I declined Ruger's replacement offer...

Well, since I had not received the action back as of yet.. I gave them a call to check on the shipping tracking number....

I get this icy diplomatic response of "that is being held in shipping status"......

What is that suppose to mean??? so I asked her....

"That means that the shipping status is still being processed' sir.........

As a business owner... what an evasive response!

Does 2 1/2 to 3 weeks, and not even having the item to be returned.. processed thru their shipping department... am I a little impatient or they a little slow at Ruger?????

a second call to speak with their manager, and I am told he is not available, but will return my call within the next 3 to 4 business days....

so I ask Susie Customer service, why is my property just parked in their holding status....

They want to make sure that they process all of this paperwork to make some lawyer happy someplace.....

I for one, am disgusted with Ruger's Customer service.....

They make a quality firearm... but their customer service isn't priceless.. it is useless!

this is a perfect example of how a local gunsmith is worth his weight in gold, as he understands what it means to present customer service and work with a client....

manufacturers could care less about a customer whom has purchases a product and lives somewhere way across the country..... animal
pissers the customer...

Bottom line proves.. support your local gunsmiths!!!! thumb

Seafire/B17G: Sheesh!
No you are not being impatient, in my opinion, but remember when dealing with other "humans" you will OFTEN be disappointed!
My advice is to grin and bear it a while longer as there is "something" going on!
I am guessing if you "push" (jab, prod, ridicule, demand satisfaction, get uppity, throw your weight around, become indignant, demand someones head and/or threaten to sell your shares of Ruger Stock) you will only exacerbate (make worse, aggravate) this already poor situation. In other words "being impatient" may cause things to get worse - or even slower to resolve itself.
Good luck though and I want you to get that action back ASAP so you can get on with your next project.
I wonder if that action has been missplaced (done away with?)?

Seafire,

I'd give 'em a couple more days or so. At that point if nothing has transpired, I would contact them again (same party or parties). I would then say (and I would use these exact words), "Look, you guys have been jerking me around for the last xxx weeks over this and I'm really tired of your bullshit. It's time for you to shit or get off the pot. Now, have I made myself clear on the issue?" I freakin' hate being jeked around. Good luck!

They're probably running this by house counsel.

Send them a registered letter demanding the return of your property forthwith, as you have declined their offer of replacement.

Mention that you will check with your local ATFE office, as they have no legal standing to take your action.

Tell them you need it back since it's the centerpiece of your "Never Buy A Ruger" expose' display that's going with you on the gun show circuit.

And ask for the correct spelling of the names of all you've spoken to at Ruger about this.

You could be the next 'walex' dancing

Skinner,

You are pure evil.

I like that in a person.

I am going to borrow that trick next time I have something like this happen.

Well, I like Skinner's idea...the best.. then George's....

I can live without the action... I just hate having loose ends open like that....

so I will give them a couple of more weeks....then I can have legal counsel send them a letter at no charge to me.....

I may buy a share of Ruger Stock, just to have something to bitch about to the stockholders meeting...even if in abstentia.....

hopefully at least, they will not be like Simmons Optics...

they have had two scopes of mine, that they are to replace, since they no longer make those models.... but what they are going to replace them with.... has been on "backorder" since last MAY!!!!!

So they are telling me January now...the items were sent back in April...

Naw, this is just making me spend my money with a gunsmith... I'd rather put together a rifle, than buy a new Ruger... I am going to write a letter to their president and let them know just that!

and highlight the reasons why!

just my cynical guess mind you but you ain't getting your action back. batfe doesn't care about any civil issue, lets see ; gun sent for repair-- not happy with service, ya mabe if you got kin who is a us attorney. lets see you are 3000 + / - miles away, legal depts opinion; sue us for return of property, legal fees vs a few hundred dollar gun.
i think the best resolution you may get is they actually send you a replacement gun.

seafire,
I supect that if they are reluctant to send you back the action and you did not bite on their offer, they may likely sweeten the pot. It may be that they feel there may be a weakness in the action and they may be liable if they send it back to you. I would wait them out and see what transpires. You could also go a bit higher up the foodchain at Ruger and see if someone will give you some straight answers. It can be fun pulling their chain when the ball is in your court. Good luck and hope it works out for you.

personally, I like the lawyer letter thing, and mention damages for loss of use and punitive awards for bargaining in bad faith, and the publicity in the newspapers, etc...
