Ruger #1H Tropical barrel setback/rechamber or rebarrel?
What's it going to take to setback and rechamber a 375 HH Mag to 375 Flanged Mag? Or is it just as well (cheaper/easier) to rebarrel it? Who would you suggest to do the work?

Well the only issues I can see is the effect on the sight rib. Can it be machined off to allow the barrel to set back? What will the inletting along the barrel look like?

On a new barrel you would have to mount the rib, sling and front sight. To minimize the impact you would want to copy the barrel contour.

As usual just my $.02

A better question is why? the h&h is a superior cartridge to the flanged, so why accuracy, ejection problems, recoil or nostalgia?

what ramrod said.. that it would be cheaper and faster to have the barrel turned, as the rib is removable on that one.

Not much more of a hassle than any other rebarrel, though I don't know anyone that specializes in them

Without checking, which is dangerous here, I would ask, isn't the flanged the same as the H&H with a rim? If so, the rim is thinner than the length of the belt so the barrel would have to be set back. Also, the extractor would probably not work. The rib is a no brainer, cut it.

From my recollction, the 375 Fl has a longer neck, and has more dimensional changes than just the rim. Bob
