My new 700, in 7mm.mag is cutting my brass in several places, it also is cutting many of the points on the bullets. This rifle only has about 30 rounds thru it to date. Will it smooth out on its own or will I need to break out the old jeweler's files and diamond stones and go to work on this "burr-o-matic" action. I ask because this is my first new Remington rifle, I haven't had this problem with Savages and Rugers.

Thanks Jbelk, it looks like the feed rails. On the right side, both lips are very sharp. I used Emory cloth on a dowel rod and removed most of the roughness, just need to hit it a little more. I put a little very fine valve grinding compound on another piece of rod, chucked in a drill to polish the belt area, very lightly, looks like quite an improvement. I'll work it a little more, very slowly, to polish, not remove any large amount of metal. I wouldn't normally buy a belted magnum, but I got a good straight up trade for a .22 hornet. This rifle only had 14 rounds put thru it to zero the scope, it was too good a deal to pass up.
