I have a Savage Model 12 with the pillar bedding. The pillars are lower than the wood under the action. Is this proper or should they contact the action? Thanks

Dick the pillars should touch the action. Maybe the wood took in some moisture & became swollen.

Bear, Thanks for the answer. This is the second Savage that I have owned that was this way. A friend told me that the pillars are serrated and can be driven out and then the stock inletted from the bottom to make the pillars protrude more. I may try this when I get my nerve up. Dick
