Is there a "standard" size for a dovetail front sight blade. The kind that slides in front to back. It looks to be 3/16-ish wide at the top of the dovetail. Mauser 98a

NECG doesn't publish sizes.

The ones that NECG markets, the front sight inserts, are 3mm, I think. They sell the cutter but you will need a metric collet with it

I've got similar one on the front of a Husky 146 9.3x57 and I wasn't able to find any specs to order a taller one. I'm resigned to the fact that I'll just have to make it by hand and trial and error the male dovetail a couple times before doing the whole thing. Even cutting them with a file wouldn't take too long due to the small size and my time is cheap to me.

On the metric collet, I've got a couple of metric shank endmills but no collets so I make a bushing in the lathe and split it to convert to the next size up collet that I do have. If the diameters are cut right it will run true.
