I live about 35 miles NE of Detroit and am looking for a recomendation on a gunsmith in my area. (to replace the barrel on my model 700 Remington with a factory as-new take-off barrel.)

I've heard of a shop in Troy, 14 1/2 west of Rochester IIRC.
Personaly I use Flint-and-Frizzen on Dixie in Clarkston.
If your into "big names", there is always Williams Gunsite" up in Davison.

I don't know if they are still in busness, but one place/gunsmith I'd avoid at all costs is "Oakland Custom"/Mike Stitt (when a guy is given PHOTOS of what the customer wants, and does it completly different because "I figgured you'd like it better this way".......)

You are just a hopp, skip, and a jump from the best. He is awesome nice also. I think he is about 6 months behind right now, as he builds a bunch of Benchrest rifles. Just call and ask him.
