Just wondering what is a good price for a Rem 700 short action? Need it for a custom .222. The rest of my rifles are CRF, but I'm willing to risk my life that the push feed will keep all the charging prairie dogs, rabbits, and coyotes off me! Good Hunting,

Try this site. Scoll down to the Actions/Barrels/Stocks link http://mikesshooting.com/ It's my understanding that these are all new actions. He buy the rifles and sells the stocks, barrels and actions separately. Looks like about $320 for what you are looking for.

Andy- Good M700 S/A's are hard to come by at a decent price anymore, and the 222/223 bolt face is that much harder. Your best bet is look around the pawn shops, and used racks in good gun shops. Pick up a whole rifle, it will be cheaper. (Guys that have already stripped it down to the action know what they have...). Around here (west TN), I'd expect to pay $300-$350, depending on ADL vs BDL, condition, etc. You occassionally find one a bit cheaper, but they get snatched up pretty quick. Good luck in your search!
