When I load 3 down and close the bolt, then open and bring the bolt back..this is what happens. It's .264 Win. Mag.

Many thanks in advance for any advice on this,
Terry

Hi
I would start by checking the magazine spring. Make sure it is in ther right and nothing is under it. Then bend or adjust it so there is more push pressure on the case head end of cartridge. Good Luck Curly

It COULD be the spring, it could be the follower, it could be the extractor pressure, it could be the rails...or it could be all of the above...take it to a knowledgeable gunsmith. Feeding is a symphony...everything has to be timed and work in harmony

Has that rifle always done that? Have the rails been messed with?

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Curly, I tried that and it seemed to help somewhat. I may try another spring , follower etc.

Duane, sound advice for sure..thanks

I just picked this rifle up used. It's an old Flaig rifle made in 1965, best I can tell. I'm not sure if the rails have been messed with. I may talk around to my gun bud's to see about comparing it to another FN.....

hi fella's,
i'm new here, but i've built a few mauser actioned guns (with a good gunsmith's help, of course) and have been fooling around with them for years.
i have a g3340 that's chambered for 7x57 ackley and it does the same thing occasionaly. i'm pretty sure it has to do with the diameter of the case at the shoulder being larger than a normal 57 mm. case. just like your .264, the ackley case is bigger in diameter at the shoulder. in the magazine, the way they sit staggered puts the center lines of the case closer to the center of the action than the normal intended cartridge so they sit with less stagger at the front and the rails don't keep them down in the mag as well.
i would try possibly a little less spring pressure might keep from pushing the cases up so hard because there is less cartridge under the rail and they slip past the rails easier.
